... Y-Yeah...

[It's not that she doesn't notice, really. She's intuitive. She can see the dilation of his eyes and the rising of his chest, but most importantly she just plain possesses the empathy to realize what's happening. Of course he's scared. Seto is brave, but he isn't infallible -- he's afraid for himself and afraid for her and afraid for the others. That was the cost of being so kind.

But even still, his voice and his face when her eyes have focused enough to make it out are calming as always. She could hold him to that sort of promise, hold it up in her mind as a ward. Because Seto promised, everything will be all right and they're all going to escape safely and they're going to do fun things. And they'll be happy again. Nothing like this will ever happen again.

If they get through this quickly. She doesn't want to hurt him. Even if she knows that he won't be angry, even forcing herself to believe that the end result will be positive, she has her reservations. What if she hurt him too badly? What would he say then? Would he think of her as -

No. Stop that. Seto would never. Seto isn't that sort of person. How dare she even think so lowly of him to worry about being called a monster? It was another intrusive thought, another mushroom rooted at the floor of her heart.

But she wasn't going to have any of it if everyone was counting on her. Everything will be all right. Everything must be all right. But her gaze returns to the wheel again and the smile on her face is probably one of the weakest he's ever seen.]

It's... It's okay.

[A pause while she steels herself. She repeats that sentence in her mind like a mantra, along with the promise.]

I-It's okay -- ! ... Even if something... happens, I... I won't let anything bad happen to you, Seto...!

[But her mouth fills with cement as soon as she finishes saying those words, and her hand on the wheel is heavy like lead. It takes another time like hundreds of years to her before she can spin.

Nine. She didn't understand the order quite so well if her sigh of relief means anything -- injecting something to make him hallucinate... that was definitely awful, but it was survivable and it would wear off and it wasn't painful. It's the least of many, many evils, even if she still doesn't want to do this --

But she takes the needle. She has to hurry and fulfil their promise. She has to hurry so everyone can be okay. It's only a shot. It'll be like he's having a dream, right? That was what a hallucination was. It's nothing but a daydream. It's administered in his wrist in a way mimicking the shows she's watched with everyone and books she's read. Sure hope she actually got the vein.]
