[A month ago, Christopher's thought process before sending this message would have gone as follows:

Should I send a message to Master Huey?
I don't want to, I don't want to talk to him.
He might have orders for me.
He'll contact me if he wants me.
Unless it's an experiment to see whether I'll initiate contact. Unless it's an experiment to see how much I've changed.
If I forget I ever thought about this, then I won't be rebelling by not contacting him.
A lapse of thought is also a failure.

In the end, fear would have triumphed and Christopher would have contacted Huey.

But now, the thought is only this:
Oh, we don't have Liza or the Twins. I suppose I ought to ask him for instructions before I leave.

So the experiment obeys his moulded whims.]

If you have any instructions for my mission to Earth, I will joyfully obey them.

[Christopher doesn't even spare a second to wonder at Huey's priorities or reasons. Those don't matter, after all. God moves in mysterious ways, and Christopher has his orders.]

It will be as you wish.

[Ah, but this hurts so much less than before. This is nice. Christopher does not try to understand the kind and drowning wave of relief.]

[Like a rabbit who has trained itself to know the weight in the footfall of a fox on the prowl, Christopher instinctively understands the tone and the danger it implies. The words only reveal that the danger has found a new form to take.

But even as his frightened animal's mind assesses the threat, Christopher remains calm, even peaceful. He is a lab rat who has submitted to its fate. It's a waste of energy to try to escape a trap that can't be escaped, so Christopher can't even bother with his own fear.

In other words, Christopher is like a worshipper who has reconciled with the ineffable nature of his God. Just as he used to, he accepts this new violence with a serene reverence.]

A reward, Master Huey? Why, such a thing is like expecting a to find a handful of dandelions and discovering that there are daisies among their number as well. Serving you is a reward in itself. I am grateful for that happiness and any other you may bestow upon me.

[ok but huey why did you let him interact with the poet look at what you did]
